Market Street NE to be Closed

Beginning April 9, 2007, Market Street NE will be closed to through traffic between the Union Pacific Railroad and 17th Street NE for sewer and water line construction. This work will be completed on or before June 11, 2007.

Local access will be maintained for residents and emergency services throughout the project. Primary detour routes will be eastbound on D Street NE and westbound on Sunnyview Road NE.

A new 8-inch sanitary sewer main and storm drain improvements will be constructed along Market Street NE (from the 1300 block to the 1600 block), along the 1300 block of Olive Street NE, along the 1300 block of 15th Street NE, and along Calmar Court NE at Market Street NE.

Also, a new 12-inch water main will be constructed along Market Street NE from the 1200 block to the 1700 block.

These sewer, storm, and water rehabilitation projects are needed to replace services that have reached the end of service life.

Following completion of these improvements, each home in the affected area will be disconnected from the old sewer and water mains and reconnected to the new services.

Market Street NE will be given a new asphalt overlay following construction of the utility lines.
